Eddie Vester Maughon

Eddie Vester Maughon, 85, of Oxford, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Thursday, December 12, 2019. Vester was born in Oxford to the late Howard Pate and Willie Edna Young Maughon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Vester was a life-time evangelist to several churches, Bold Springs Baptist, Annie Mary Baptist, and Honey Creek Baptist. He sang in the Cornish Mountain Quartet and the Spiritual Tones. Vester loved working on his farm where he raised poultry and beef cattle. In his early years, he worked as a contractor and built many custom homes. Vester was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amojene Maughon; sister, Tina Kitchens; brothers, Bobby Maughon, Gene Maughon, Felton Maughon; son-in-law, Greg Barnett. Vester is survived by his children, David and Donna Maughon, Cindy Barnett and Jimmy Schofield, Eddie Maughon, Keith and Victoria Maughon, Christie and Stuart Ozburn; grandchildren, Sandra, Jason, Anthony, Chris, David, Hannah, Sarah, Josh, Taylor (Shelley), Brooke (Zack), Jordan (Hunter), Morgan; great-grandchildren, Sophia, David Lee, Annabella, Justin, Jaida, Trinity, Abigail, and Payton. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Lynn Head officiating. Interment will follow after in the Henderson-Maughon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
