Reuben John (RJ) Marlowe, of Conyers, GA, passed away on December 7, 2021. RJ was born on May 29, 1952, in Gainesville, GA. He graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1971. RJ was the last man drafted into the Armed Services from Rockdale County in 1972. He went on to serve in the Army, National Guard SP 5, E-5 180th Signal Company. After serving for six years, RJ received an honorable discharge for his service. RJ was a lifelong entrepreneur, starting with Marlowe’s TV in Conyers, GA. Followed by Rockdale CableVision which offered cable television to Rockdale County residents for the first time ever. He later established several other cable tv\systems in cities throughout Georgia, including Big Canoe, Locust Grove, Patterson, and Blackshear. RJ is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Sheila Darlene (Smith) Marlowe. His children: Adam (Melissa) Marlowe, and Danielle (Doug) Lee, both of Covington, GA. His grandchildren: Christian (Becky) Gilreath of Walnut Grove, GA; Cody (Jenna) Marlowe; Bailey Marlowe; Clay Marlowe; Zach (Keeley) Lee; and Madison Lee all of Covington, GA. His great-grandchildren: Chevelle Renee Cook-Gilreath, Ellie Blair Marlowe, Ava Louise Marlowe, and Hazel Grace Lee. His mother Eloise Bower of Conyers, GA. His siblings: Edward (Kay) Marlowe of Douglasville, GA; Michael (Dale) Marlowe of Norcross, GA; and Cindy (Larry) Sommerville of Conyers, GA; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Marlowe and brothers, Harold and Terry Marlowe. The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Service, 11405 Brown Bridge Road Covington, GA 30016, Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 2-5 PM. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2 PM at Living Way World Church (4051 Highway 81 S Covington, GA 30016), with Bishop Tim Needham officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens in Conyers (699 American Legion Road Conyers, GA).
