Mary Frances Waddleton

August 1, 2020

Mary Frances Waddleton, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020. She was 84 years of age. A Lifelong Newton County native Ms. Waddleton fondly known to everyone as “Granny Frances” was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Married to her husband Fairley for 60 years until his passing in 2012. She spent 32 years of her younger life caring for every need of her first born son Erwin who was born with cerebral palsy. She physically carried him everywhere she went and if he wasn’t welcome she didn’t go there. She fought for the rights of handicapped children and to have Erwin admitted to public school. During this same period of time she raised three other children and babysit the children of several community families in her home. She went on to work for Nursing Homes in Newton County, Covington Athletic Club, and the First Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fairley Erwin Waddleton; son, Fairley Erwin Waddleton Jr; parents, David Ralph Maloy and Edna Ethel Maloy; sister. Betty Laverne Millwood; brothers, Billy, Donald, David, and Fred Maloy. Mrs. Waddleton is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mark & Maleta Waddleton, Ken & Misty Waddleton; daughter, Marsha Payton; sisters, Ann White and Margaret Bates; brother, Jimmy Bell. Her life was blessed with the love from and for countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11 am at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
