Louie Buford Comans

February 3, 1936 - September 16, 2021

Louie Buford Comans passed away peacefully Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Savannah Court Assisted Living in Greensboro. He was 85 years of age. Louie was born in Newton, MS to Carrol and Venia (Tune) Comans. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew. Louie served in the US Marine Corp and worked in Law Enforcement for DeKalb County for more than 30 years. A man of integrity and honor he was a devout Christian. He pastored Honey Creek Baptist, Almon Baptist, and Sugar Creek Baptist until his retirement. Louie was happiest being outside and even better when the family was gathered around. He could be found in the garden or on his tractor. Louie was a kind and gentle man with a bright smile for everyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor which he kept through his last days. Through the tears, it will always bring a smile to the faces of those who knew and loved him. Louie was preceded in death by his parents Carrol and Venia Comans; son Robert Comans; brother Howard Comans; and his wife of 60 years Jessie Comans. His memory will forever be cherished by his children and their spouses, Lisa (Thomas) Phares, Randy (Darlene) Comans, Terry (Jennifer) Comans; grandchild and spouse, Garrett (Heather) Phares; great grandchildren Roy and Dalton Phares; brothers and their spouses, Dave (Charlotte) Comans, Alton (Martha) Comans, Charles Comans; nieces, Kay, Caren, Holly; and nephews, Keith, Jeremy. Funeral Services will be held Monday September 20, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, 1000 Sugar Creek Rd, Madison, GA 30650 with Rev. Butch Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington 30016. Guests may send condolences to www.wheelerfuneralhome.com. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also recommend all guests and family members attending visitations and services to please bring and wear a mask while in the building, and are encouraged to practice social distancing.
