Joseph Nelson Elliott Jr.

Joseph Nelson Elliott Jr. 90 of Madison, GA. passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Merryvale Assistant Living. Joseph was born in Atlanta to the late Joseph Sr. and Lela (Wood) Elliott. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Elliott, his daughter Tara Strickland, and sister Ann Easterling. Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memories, his son and daughter-in-law Joe III and Connie Elliott, his daughter and son-in-law Heather and James Hodgson, grandchildren Angel (Jason), Lacey (Brian), Morgan, Sawyer, Carly (Nick), Avanne (Micah), great grandchildren Paisley, Brian, Hazel, Grayson, Berkley, Starlie, special friends Dennis and Lynn Hembree, many other loving family members. Joseph was a loving husband, Father, grandfather “Papa or Papa Joe”, and a good friend to so many. He had such a great sense of humor, and you knew it when he walked into the room. He was a man of time, and you better be on time. Joseph worked for MARTA for over 31 years, and for GDA for a few years before he retired. He was a member of the Church of Covington for over 20 years and served in the US Army during the Korean war era. His family was his world, he was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed. A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 4pm-7pm at Wheeler Funeral Home 11405 Brown Bridge Rd Covington, GA 30016. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11am with Pastor Dennis Hembree officiating. At Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery 2000 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060.
