John Albert Wages Jr. 77, of Covington, Passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Bristol Village in Conyers, GA. John was born in Miami, FL to the late John and Avis Wages. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers; Jimmy, Billy, Ernie and sisters; Juanita, Aretha, Louise, Joann. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a beloved friend to everyone. He enlisted at the age of 17, and served his County in the US Navy. In 1984 he married his sweet wife Sue. He became a member of the Luther Hayes Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and a devout Christian. He was a past master at the Golden Fleece Masonic lodge in Covington. John retired from Ford Motor Convoy after 40 years of service. In his younger days he lived a very active life, enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved his horses and wildlife. He will be greatly missed. John is survived by his lovely wife Sue Wages of Conyers, GA, his son; Dennis Wages of Conyers, GA, Step daughter: Rhonda Marshall of Wrightsville, GA, grandson; Lee Marshall, great-granddaughter; Cheyenne Marshall. Sister: Shirley Summy of Blairsville, GA , Carolyn Farmer of Conyers, GA. and many nieces and nephews. Services for John will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11am at Wheeler Funeral Home 11405 Brown Bridge Rd. Covington, GA with Rev. Betsy Turner officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 9, 2016 from 6pm-8pm. Brother John taught me so much as I went through the degrees. Rode with him to Macon for the Commandry work and enjoyed so much his fellowship as we delivered food baskets, worked the Shady Dale Roadeo and so many other things. A good man and a good Mason.
