John Herd Sr.

Mr. John Herd, 83 of Oxford, passed away at Piedmont Walton Hospital on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He was born in Manchester, KY to the late Roy Sr. and Oda (Webb) Herd. In addition, to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Nancy Darling Herd, grandson Kenneth Paul Denny, and his sister Louise Foster. John leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children Theresa Herd, Barbara (Thomas) Sigman, John Jr. (Paige) Herd, Charleen Jenkins, grandchildren, Ron, Michael, Alex, Kristen, Brandon, Dylan, Chloe, great grandchildren Kaylee and Brent, brother Robert (Christine) Herd, sister Mary Sue Predit, and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. John was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a great friend to so many. John was a dedicated and faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Watkinsville, he committed his time to the jail ministry, and the bus ministry, as well as teaching Sunday School, and was an Ordained Minister. John was an avid carp fisherman, he loved most sports especially basketball, and he still holds the track record at Hamilton High School in Ohio. He was loved, and will be deeply missed.
