John Forrest (Stumpy) Collins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

John Forrest (Stumpy) Collins, 81, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Conyers, GA to the late Gordon and Nannie Ruth Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Collins; 2 sisters, Hazel Kerbow and Emma Durden; and 2 daughters, Denise Thompson and Stephanie Stephenson. He was a member of the Yaarab Temple Conyers Shrine Club, PACE Masonic Lodge #558, International Painters and Allied Traders Union and Smyrna Presbyterian Church in Conyers. Stumpy was the owner of Collins Painting, Inc. He was a man who loved working and riding his John Deere lawn tractor as well as doing yard work. His hobbies included his 1955, ’56, and ’57 Chevrolet cars, going to car shows, his golf cart and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Rita Collins of Covington; stepchildren, Nickie Lott of Conyers, Pate and Crystal Stevens of Lilburn, James and Crystal Stevens of Covington; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, Wednesday, December 2nd from 6pm – 8pm and Thursday, December 3rd from 12pm – 1pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home Thursday, December 3rd at 1:00 pm with Chaplin Wayne Ghann. Interment will follow at Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2920 GA 212, Conyers, GA 30094. Guests may send condolences to www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
