Janie "Louise" (Smith) Griffin Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Janie “Louise” (Smith) Griffin, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Piedmont Newton Hospital at the age of 94. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, memama, and a great friend to so many. Louise was a long standing member of Zion Baptist Church for 82 years, where she worked tirelessly in the Children’s Department as the Secretary. She sang with the Jubilee Choir and the Celebration Choir. Louise loved Southern Gospel music, coloring, crocheting, raising and caring for indoor plants, visiting the beach in the summer and the mountains in the fall. But most of all, she loved Jesus, her family and time spent at family gatherings. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Louise was born in Conyers, GA to the late Irvin Walter Smith, Sr. and Lillian (King) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Offie G. Griffin, and brothers, Irvin Jr., Wilbur, and Ray Smith. Her memories will forever be cherished by her survivors which include her children, Linda Hamlin (Gary), Kay “Sissy” Hughes, and Gordy Griffin (Beverly); grandchildren, Angie Rainwater (Blake), Jeff Hamlin (Sandi), Amanda Hughes (Josh), Brenda Tally (Keith), Greg Griffin (Cyndi), and Brian Griffin (Josh); great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tyler, Savannah, Aubrie, Ellie, Maddi, Will; and special friend Vicki Patrick. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 22 at 1:00 pm at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Bryan Alexander and Rev. Joel Brown officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until time of service.
