Buzzy was preceded in death by his parents, George Billy and Willie Ruth Hughes, grandson, Adam Lee Burch, brothers, Billy Hughes, Charles Hughes and sister, Gail Hughes. Buzzy was a US Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, fixing things, going to the mountains and especially, cutting up with his grandchildren. Buzzy was a devoted husband, pawpaw, brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed. Buzzy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa C. Hughes of Monroe; children and their spouses, Brandy and John Carpenter of Monroe, Wesley Hughes of Monroe; Lee Burch and fiancée, Marcy Cash of Bethlehem, Amanda and Justin Harris of Covington, Glenn and Ginny Hughes of Mansfield; eighteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Hughes of Homer, and Sue and Eloy Vazques of Covington; brother, Robert Hughes of Covington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, December 20, 2021 from 6 pm – 8 pm and Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 12pm - 2pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 20212 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations may be made to the funeral home in honor of Mr. Hughes. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines.
