Fred Johnson Visscher, 94 of Madison, passed away peacefully at Abbey Hospice Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He went to Decatur Boys High School. Fred proudly served his country in the Army during WWII where his passion for flying continued. He was a flight instructor who taught many cadets how to fly. After the war he started his pilot career at Southern Airways. Fred enjoyed riding motorcylces, travelling in his motorhome, doing home renovations, and going to the lake. He was a great provider to his family and was a member of the Scott Sunday School Class at Patillo Methodist Church in Decatur.Fred was born to the late Fredrick J. and Roberta Brady Visscher. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Jane Visscher.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Tom Tanner, son Fred Visscher and son and daughter-in-law Paul and Celia Visscher, grandchildren Katie Tanner, Brad and Leigh Tanner, great-grandchildren Olivia Tanner and Jeremiah Tanner and 2 on the way.Graveside services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at Decatur Cemetery with Jeff Hicks officiating.
