Foster “Freeman” Batchelor, 74, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Emory Midtown Hospital. He was born in Monroe, Georgia to the late Ralph and Beulah (Farmer) Batchelor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Batchelor.Freeman grew up in the Covington community and played varsity football and baseball for the Newton County Rams. He won many athletic awards during high school. After high school, he attained a black belt level in HapKiDo, a Korean marshall art. Also, Freeman played locally in several bands that led to his opportunity to become road and stage manager for the groups “Three Dog Night” and “Bread” in the 1970’s and 1980’s. After moving back from California he became an accountant/bookkeeper in the Atlanta area. Freeman was an avid sports fan loving the game of golf, the Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs.His memory will be cherished by his sister, Linda “Lynn” (Ronald) Barnes of Dacula, Ga; nephew Eric (Dana) Barnes of Dacula, Ga; niece, Lyndsay (John) Luca of Chapel Hill, NC; great nephews Michael (Andrea) Barnes of Dacula, Ga, and Evan (Allie) Barnes of Maysville, Ga; great niece, Natalie of Chapel Hill, NC; and two great-great nieces.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services. I have a stuffed Ram football player I got when I was about 9 or10 yrs old Freeman was my hero at the swimming pool ,on the football field every where I went I wanted to be a Freeman it's 2022 I still have that player I put a # 10 on his back and Freeman on front he is still my hero then and now I only hope I've done him justice wanting to be a Freeman R I P MY HERO. My condolences to Eric and all of Freeman’s family. I know y’all were heartbroken at Fred’s passing. I know I was. I knew Freeman for over 40 years. We were particularly close the last several years. He was like a brother to me. I will always have many great memories and stories to tell. He was a special person and a better friend I never had. God bless and Rest In Peace brother.

Played high school baseball with Freeman and hung around his dad’s service station. He was a great guy and friend. So sorry to hear this.
I was so sad and surprised to hear of Freeman's passing. His passing has been a hard one to process. From elementary school through high school, Freeman was always such a great person to be around - always a smile on his face, a lover of life, great musician, loved and was good at the sports in which he played. The NCHS class of '65 would not have been the same without Freeman as our friend. R.I.P. Freeman.

I'm so sorry to hear of Freeman's passing. I had the pleasure of working with "Free" in the late 70's and early 80's. He had a great soul. A free spirit, interested in almost everything! RIP Freeman. So glad I had the opportunity to know you.

Freeman was one of a kind; creative and gentle with a wonderful sense of humor. Some the best memories of my life include him. He will be greatly missed.
