Carey “Joel” McAlister, 60, of Conyers, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born in Atlanta, GA to Elvon McAllister and Gail (Polk) Hassell. Joel was a native of Rockdale County his entire life. He loved to cook, play guitar and hang out with his dog, Buddy. Joel was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. Joel was preceded in death by his father, Elvon Doc McAlister. He is survived by his mother, Gail Hassell of Conyers; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Cindy McAlister of Conyers; sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Edmond Hall of Covington; 1 niece; 3 nephews; 1 great-niece; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
