Dr. Thomas E. Allen Sr.

Dr. Thomas E. Allen Sr., 67 of Covington, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Emory University Hospital. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Charles and Ruth Allen. Dr. Allen attended Tennessee Temple University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and then went on to attend Southern Bible Institute and Seminary where he earned his Masters and Doctorate in Education. He pastored churches in the Conyers and Covington area for over 40 years and founded Grace Christian Academy in 1980. Dr. Allen shared his love for young people by ministering to them right up to his death.He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Emma Allen, of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law Tom Jr. and Beth Allen of McDonough, Tim Sr. and Katrina Allen of Covington; daughter Tamara Allen of Covington; grandchildren Tim Jr., Landon, Taylor, Spencer, Abigail, and Kayden; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Blaine Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Dr. Allen will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 2:30 pm at Belmont Baptist Church, 3275 Iris Dr., SE, Conyers, GA., with Rev. Randy Barton officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 2, 2015, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral Home. In addition to flowers, memorials may be sent in honor of Dr. Thomas E.
