Ronald “Speedy” D. Spangler, 79 of Porterdale, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Riverside Healthcare Center. He was born in Peoria, Illinois to the late Dean and Margaret Spangler. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Gene Spangler. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all, and all knew him as Speedy (from running track in high school). Speedy was a lead guitarist, and a singer/songwriter who played with many musicians like Tanya Tucker, Conway Twitty, Sylvia, Crystal Gayle and Mickey Gilley. Speedy was a perfectionist and a hard worker at everything he did. His second profession at laying hardwood floors was like art to him. He took pride in his work. He was saved at a young age and remained a devout Christian throughout his life. Speedy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Teresa Ball Spangler, daughters and sons in law Marcella & Jeffery Baker, Michelle & Paul Jenkins, seven grandchildren Ali Baker, Reagan Baker, Raleigh Baker, Austin Jenkins, Justin Jenkins, Brayson Jenkins and Ryland Jenkins, sister and brother in law Valerie & Dave Marlais. Mr. Spangler’s service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:30pm in the chapel at Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 11405 Brown Bridge Rd Covington GA.
