Mildred Bell Hamlin

Mildred Bell Hamlin, 84 , of Conyers, GA passed away October 17, 2014. Mrs. Hamlin was born in Porterdale, GA to the late Waymon Bell, Sr, and Martha Lackey Bell. She was a dedicated and active member of Zion Baptist Church. Mildred was a member of the Emmanuel Sunday School class, and was the former Sunday School teacher of the class. She was one of the original members of the Zion Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir, and Jubilee Choir. Mildred was a Gold Star mother in recognition of her son’s dedicated service and sacrifice serving in our country’s armed forces. Mrs. Hamlin was preceded in death by a son Robert Wayne Hamlin; sisters Ruth Snow, Mary Wilson, Josie Phillips; and her brother Waymon Bell, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Willie F. Hamlin of Conyers, GA; sons and daughters in-law Gary and Linda Hamlin of Covington, GA, Barry and Cindy Hamlin of Covington, GA; grandchildren Angela and Blake Rainwater, Jeff and Sandi Hamlin; great grandchildren Tyler Hamlin, Mackenzie Rainwater, Aubrie Gordon, Savannah Hamlin; sisters and brother in-law Lena and Lamar Maloy, Ann Mease; brother and sister in-law Joel and Emma Bell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, October 20, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Reese Sanders, Dr. Grant Whittenbarger, and Rev. Frank Daws officiating. Mrs. Hamlin will lie in state from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral Home and Crematory, 11405 Brown Bridge Road, Covington, GA 30016. 770-786-7111.
